Background: TV & Radio advert by design agency ManvsMachine for Ad Agency Rapier - Virgin Media

How we did it: The audio on this advert for broadcast & radio needed to be an additional vehicle for the narrated message which is Virgin broadband services. Our role was to articulate the story using sound, adding depth, backstory and non-visual acoustic cues, [children playing, TV,]. The sound design is a mixture of foley and musical audio design, we often use real world sounds that we have recorded from scratch and process them into sound fx that are organic yet motion graphic friendly.

The swooshes are industrial fans over different materials [gauzes, cut cardboard slots, vents, we record these and then eq, reverb, change pitch to create rich swooshes [No pitched up Jets here from sound libraries at Radium!]

The pop on the Ted graphic is a mixture of wallpaper paste, fairy liquid in a bucket being blown through tube, with a techno bass kick layered in for added presence.

Sounds we created include: sound design textures, movement sounds, original swooshes, clicks, pops, counting clock, vortex textures, children watching tv, vintage tv switch, cathode ray tube buzz, chords supporting the product swooshes
