When BBC Northern Ireland asks Radium to create the soundtrack to a series of idents for their 100th Anniversary commemoration of the sinking of the Titanic, we are excited at the prospect of working on a project with such historic significance.

The ident visuals show the creation of the BBC Northern Ireland logo, using traditional crafts and methods of metalwork, woodwork, stained glass, and hand drawn planning and design, the same skills used to build the great ship Titanic over 100 years ago now.

The historic tale of the sinking of the Titanic is one of the more resonant handed down to us, interweaved with our popular culture even today, and so we take a very subtle, highly detailed approach to the narrative sounds and ambience we create, shaping a poignantly introspective and respectful sonic space in which the micro-scenes can link the present with the past.
